Youth Group

하나임 교회 HYG (Hanaim Youth Group)

Youth Group (HYG as it is lovingly called), is students from 6th to 12th grade.
The mission of HYG is to make disciples who live by faith, show love, and bring hope.
The mission of HYG is lived out as co-workers with God in the great co-mission.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20).

The vision of HYG is to see young people come alive in God and to change the world with God.

Our vision is to see this mission take heart in the young people of Hanaim Youth Group.
We believe that when we find our identity in God and His kingdom work, we come alive.

This is how the world will be changed, not by dead religion but by people who are alive in Christ.
We want to see young people find their identity in God so that they can change the world rather than be of the world.

The parable of the prodigal son is taught from such an early age to our children,
but often the point of the parable is lost on so many of us—I know it was for me.
I grew up in the church and was always the obedient, dutiful son lost in religion and expectation.

When I was older, I rejected this notion and pursued the life of the younger son, losing myself in the world and cultural expectations.
Thankfully God, like the father in the parable, never gave up on me and waited patiently for me.
I am serving as the pastor of Hanaim Youth Group because I want young people to know that it’s not about religion versus the world,
but about a relationship with the loving Father.
